The Specialist is an officer with a special skill, appointed by the Skipper, to perform that function. A specialist could fulfill such a roll as the ship's signalman, bugler, navigator, weatherman, galley cook, photographer, historian, or publicist. Kevin is our ship's Aquatics Specialist. Possessing special skill in aquatics, his job is to assist other members of the ship desiring to learn or pass advancement in the area of swimming.
